Alejandro Balde Transfer Latest: Man Utd, Liverpool, City & Villa Pursue Barcelona Left-Back

Sport news

Manchester United has reportedly joined a list of clubs making inquiries about Barcelona’s highly-rated left-back, Alejandro Balde.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City and Aston Villa are also showing interest in the Spanish international, whose future at the Nou Camp appears uncertain.

Another Spanish publication, Fichajes, previously connected Balde with a potential €60 million move to Liverpool, though his summer plans remain undecided.

Despite considerable interest, Mundo Deportivo indicates that the 22-year-old talent is keen on staying with Barcelona.

The report further notes that while initial contacts have been made to gauge interest and explore possibilities, no formal bids have been submitted for the player yet.

Alejandro Balde: A Promising Fit for Manchester United

While Balde might not have displayed his absolute peak form for Barcelona this season, he is widely regarded as a top-tier talent with a bright future ahead.

Manchester United are in need of a new left-back, seeking an upgrade over the aging and injury-prone Luke Shaw. This potential move aligns well with their squad requirements.

Internally, Balde has received a high “Transfer Fit” rating of 20/25 for Manchester United. This assessment highlights excellent scores for “Squad Need” (5/5), “Transfer Fee” (4/5), “Achievements” (4/5), and “Career Phase” (4/5), despite a slightly lower mark for “Performance” (3/5) this season.

Securing Balde would undoubtedly bolster United’s squad for both immediate and long-term prospects. With previous reports suggesting a €60 million valuation, this acquisition could prove to be a significant bargain.

Potential Destinations for Alejandro Balde Beyond Barcelona

Balde might view a switch to Old Trafford favorably, particularly as United appears poised for a return to the Champions League next season.

However, given United’s somewhat tumultuous recent history, alternatives such as Liverpool, Manchester City, or even Aston Villa could present more appealing options.

Liverpool also appears to be in the market for a left-back upgrade, especially with Milos Kerkez’s debut season at Anfield being somewhat underwhelming.

A move to Manchester City, however, might be less straightforward, as Balde could face stiff competition for a starting spot from established players.

Aston Villa also emerges as an intriguing prospect, given their renewed push for Champions League football and the opportunity for Balde to assume a pivotal long-term role, potentially succeeding Lucas Digne.
