The British Grand Prix is upon us, marking the halfway point of an exciting 2025 Formula 1 season.
Lando Norris`s recent victory in Austria positions him to potentially secure a first home win at Silverstone and further reduce his 15-point deficit to championship leader Oscar Piastri.
The McLaren teammates engaged in an intense battle at the Austrian Grand Prix, with Norris ultimately triumphing. He is now seeking to claim consecutive race wins for the first time within the same season.
However, Max Verstappen will start Saturday`s race from pole position, lining up ahead of both McLarens, following a stellar qualifying performance.
Verstappen currently trails Piastri by 63 points in the drivers` standings and needs a strong finish to keep his championship hopes alive.
A major focus will be on Lewis Hamilton`s debut British Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver, exactly a year after his memorable victory at the event. Hamilton boasts an impressive streak of 12 consecutive podium finishes at Silverstone. Extending this run would also mark his first podium appearance for Ferrari.
Meanwhile, George Russell has faced his share of misfortune at his home race, with his best result being fifth place in 2023. He will be hoping Mercedes can recapture the winning form shown in Canada.
Viewers in the UK can follow all the action from the Silverstone weekend live on Sky Sports F1. For those with a Sky box, all F1 track sessions will also be available for free on Sky Showcase.
British GP Circuit: Silverstone Track Layout
The Silverstone circuit, spanning 3.661 miles, is widely regarded as a favorite among drivers due to its high-speed corners like Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, and Stowe.
It`s also a track known for providing ample overtaking opportunities, particularly on the Wellington and Hanger Straights. Even the early section of the lap, `The Loop`, offers chances for drivers to make a move.
Silverstone holds historic significance as the host of the very first F1 World Championship event in 1950 and has been a consistent fixture on the F1 calendar since then.
British GP Weather in Silverstone
It wouldn`t feel like a British Grand Prix weekend without some rain, and the current forecast suggests there`s a possibility of showers during Sunday`s race.
After experiencing a heatwave earlier in the week, temperatures are expected to drop to around 20°C to 22°C for race day at Silverstone.
