Christian Horner has formally departed from Red Bull, having finalized a substantial multi-million-pound severance deal. This agreement paves the way for his prompt re-entry into Formula 1.
His dismissal from Red Bull Racing occurred in July, where he held the dual positions of team principal and chief executive for two decades, overseeing one of the sport`s most successful teams.
Despite his July sacking, Horner officially remained on Red Bull`s payroll while discussions took place regarding his departure terms. His original contract, valid until the close of 2030, entitled him to over £100 million.
On Monday, Red Bull confirmed that a settlement had been reached. It is understood that the 51-year-old accepted a reduced payment, approximately £75 million, which includes a provision allowing him to resume involvement in Formula 1 by summer 2026.
Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull`s chief executive of corporate projects and investments, expressed gratitude, stating: “We extend our thanks to Christian for his outstanding contributions over the past 20 years.”
