Tennis star Emma Raducanu has retired from her opening match at the Wuhan Open during the second set due to a medical timeout. The former US Open champion, currently ranked 30th in the world, withdrew while trailing American Ann Li with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Medical personnel conducted checks for blood pressure and temperature after Raducanu appeared unwell and dizzy during the second set. A crucial double fault had allowed Li to establish a significant lead just before the withdrawal.
This setback follows a period of improved performance for Raducanu, where she reached the third round at both Wimbledon and the US Open. However, her subsequent appearances at the Korea Open and China Open saw her exit in the last 16 and last 32 rounds, respectively.
