F1 2025 Season: Calendar Highlights, Sprint Venues, and Driver Moves

F1 news

The Formula 1 2025 season promises an exciting and significantly changed landscape as it marks the final year of the sport`s current technical regulations. Fans can anticipate another extensive 24-race global tour, delivering high-octane action throughout the year.

Maintaining the record set in the previous season, the 2025 calendar features 24 Grands Prix. The season is slated to commence on March 16 in Melbourne, Australia, with the iconic Albert Park circuit hosting the opening race for the first time since 2019.

A notable adjustment to the early schedule sees the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, traditionally early-season fixtures, moving to April. This shift accommodates the observance of Ramadan in March 2025, placing them as the fourth and fifth rounds of the championship, respectively.

The championship will draw to a close on December 7 in Abu Dhabi, where the final race will bid farewell to the current generation of cars and engines, paving the way for the substantial regulatory overhaul planned for 2026.

The exhilarating Sprint race format will continue in 2025, with six weekends featuring the 100km Saturday race. Belgium is set to replace Austria as a host for a Sprint event, joining familiar venues such as China, Miami, Austin, Brazil, and Qatar.

Beyond the calendar, the driver market has seen considerable movement. Only two teams will retain their exact driver pairings from the 2024 season. The most impactful development is undoubtedly Lewis Hamilton`s historic transfer to Ferrari, a move set to reshape the competitive landscape.
