The 19-year-old Mercedes driver, fresh off consecutive victories in China and Japan, spoke to Sky Sport about the Azzurri’s playoff loss to Bosnia, recalling his personal connection to Italian football.
“It’s undoubtedly a shame that Italy won’t be participating in the World Cup this year,” Antonelli remarked. He fondly recounted a memory from the Euros: “I have a wonderful memory of the Euros; I was at a karting race in Sarno when Italy was playing. After winning my race, my mother and I hurried home to watch the final. That was a truly special time.”
