For George Jarvis, competing for the world title against long-standing champion Regian Eersel has been a lifelong aspiration since childhood. “I recall watching his fights when I was around 10 years old, thinking he was an incredible fighter, and that one day I would share the ring with him,” Jarvis stated.
Now 24, Jarvis has made an impressive start to his ONE Championship career and is determined to advance further by challenging for the lightweight Muay Thai world title. He is set to face the highly experienced champion Regian Eersel live early Saturday morning.
“For a long time, it was always a dream of mine just to compete in ONE Championship, let alone for a world title, so this feels somewhat surreal,” he shared. “Until you get the opportunity, it remains just a dream; once we received the call, that dream became a reality.”
Jarvis is confident that the timing of this long-awaited title bout is perfectly in his favor. “He is now nearing the end of his career, and I am just getting started, making it the ideal moment to step up and reverse our positions,” he commented.
Jarvis believes he is prepared for any scenario that might unfold on fight night. He elaborated: “He is renowned for his knockout power and numerous impressive finishes. He possesses a high fight IQ and knows how to conserve energy for the later rounds, which comes with experience.”
“One only needs to look at his record and the opponents he has defeated; I believe he has defended his kickboxing belt 13 times and his Muay Thai belt three or four times. His achievements speak volumes for him as an established fighter,” Jarvis added.
However, Jarvis issued a clear warning: “I am extremely eager for what`s next.” “He should be worried about everything.”
