Erling Haaland’s representative has dismissed recent transfer speculation connecting the Manchester City forward with a move to Barcelona.
Given the Norwegian international’s status as one of the elite strikers globally, it’s hardly surprising that Barcelona would aim to be a prime contender should he become available.
Reports from Sport previously indicated that the Catalan club was eager to secure a special clause that would grant them the first option to sign Haaland if he ever left City. Nevertheless, Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, swiftly refuted these claims, asserting that her client is content at Manchester City.
Erling Haaland’s Agent Rejects Barcelona Transfer Claims
In an interview on La Sexta, as reported by ESPN, Pimenta stated: “We hold significant respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there has been absolutely no contact concerning a potential transfer.”
She added, “The player extended his contract a few months ago and is exceptionally pleased with his situation at Manchester City. Everything is progressing positively for him, and when things are so favorable at City, there’s genuinely nothing for us to discuss regarding a transfer.”
Yet, an unaddressed issue lingers: Haaland is currently experiencing one of the most challenging periods of his career at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland’s Goal Drought
Typically a prolific goalscorer, Haaland is enduring a severe slump, having netted only two goals from open play in his last 17 appearances. This kind of struggle is uncharacteristic for the former Borussia Dortmund star, prompting questions about whether City might consider a lucrative sale if his poor form persists.
While Pep Guardiola’s team remains in contention for the title, Arsenal is widely regarded as the frontrunner, and Manchester City’s chances of overcoming them appear slim unless their premier attacker regains his scoring touch.
