German international Leon Goretzka continues to be the subject of transfer speculation, with both AC Milan and Juventus reportedly interested as the summer transfer window approaches. However, recent reports suggest that the Rossoneri have formulated a specific strategy to outcompete their rivals for his signature.
Milan and Juventus: The Pursuit of Goretzka
Goretzka is expected to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer once his contract expires at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. This impending availability has caught the eye of several major Serie A clubs. Beyond Milan and Juventus, there are also whispers of interest from Napoli, Inter, and a number of Premier League teams.
Thursday’s reports from prominent Italian sports newspapers, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, indicate that the 31-year-old Goretzka is seeking a three-year contract once his current deal with Bayern ends.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that AC Milan has no reservations about agreeing to the three-year contract length, especially considering that Adrien Rabiot signed a similar three-year deal last summer at the age of 30.
The “Pink Paper” further implies that Milan is currently the sole club prepared to table a three-year contract offer for Goretzka. In contrast, their competitors are believed to be more inclined to propose a two-year agreement.
Despite being labeled a ‘free transfer’, securing Goretzka’s services is not expected to be inexpensive.
Tuttosport reports that Goretzka is seeking an annual salary of €7 million, in addition to a €10 million signing-on bonus. Over a three-year period, this would cost Milan a total of €31 million. However, La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that the Rossoneri’s offer will be closer to €5 million per season.
