Reports indicate that Inter Milan is prepared to enhance their offer for Italian international Marco Palestra. However, Atalanta is firm on their valuation of the full-back, and Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso is being considered as a potential alternative target.
Inter’s Stance in Palestra Negotiations
Inter is actively pursuing the acquisition of the promising young talent Palestra to fill the void left by Denzel Dumfries, whose release clause has been activated by Real Madrid. The 21-year-old showcased impressive form during his loan spell with Cagliari in the 2025-26 season and has made initial appearances for the Italian national team, despite their failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Previous reports suggested that Atalanta would not lower their €50 million valuation. However, recent updates suggest that La Dea might seek a slightly higher fee, in the range of €53 million to €55 million. Atalanta appears reluctant to accept player-plus-cash deals for Palestra, even with reports of an offer to include Inter youngster Matteo Cocchi as part of a potential agreement.
Concerns had arisen that Inter’s ownership group, Oaktree, might be unwilling to increase their initial offer of €40 million plus bonuses for Palestra. Nevertheless, the latest information from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that the Nerazzurri are poised to submit a new bid worth €45 million plus add-ons.
Concurrently, reports from SportItalia suggest that Inter might consider pursuing a transfer for Cambiaso from rivals Juventus should the Palestra deal fail to materialize. In such a scenario, Inter would reportedly be willing to include either Davide Frattesi or Carlos Augusto as part of a player-plus-cash exchange.
