Four prominent Italian football clubs – Inter, Juventus, AC Milan, and Palermo – are scheduled to visit Australia in August for a series of highly anticipated pre-season friendlies. The tour will feature two of Italian football’s most iconic rivalry matches: the Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan, and the Derby d’Italia pitting Juventus against Inter.
Official confirmation of the tour is expected soon, but the provisional schedule has already been outlined. The action kicks off on August 5 with the Milan Derby, as Inter faces AC Milan at Optus Stadium in Perth. Three days later, on August 8, Juventus will meet Inter at the same venue. AC Milan’s pre-season schedule will see them move on to other locations and they are not slated to play Juventus in Australia. However, Juventus will remain to face Palermo on August 11. Palermo, currently coached by Italy legend Filippo Inzaghi, is notably owned by City Group, which also has stakes in Australian club Melbourne City.
This upcoming tour marks a significant moment for Italian football in Australia, following earlier unsuccessful attempts to host a Serie A league match in Perth this past February. Fans Down Under will now have the chance to witness top-tier Italian club action firsthand.
