A prominent figure in football commentary, Riccardo Trevisani, offered his perspective on the ongoing controversy, advising: “People tend to revel in creating disputes. It’s time to move beyond these biased, fan-centric arguments and engage in a clear-headed, impartial analysis.”
He continued, addressing the Rossoneri faithful directly: “The AC Milan fans who currently argue that it was never a penalty would be out on the streets with flags, vehemently protesting and invoking the ‘Marotta League,’ had the situations been reversed. At the very least, be honest with yourselves; otherwise, we will never achieve true progress in our discourse. In a scenario like this, any team that is denied a penalty would naturally feel outraged.”
The contentious penalty incident also sparked a lively discussion between two legends of the Milanese clubs, Giuseppe Bergomi representing Inter and Alessandro Costacurta from Milan.
Costacurta expressed his satisfaction, noting that he was pleased such incidents would no longer automatically result in penalties. Conversely, Bergomi maintained that the referee ought to have reviewed the play on the pitchside monitor before making a final decision.
