Italian Premier League Champions: Players and Coaches

Sport news

For the second consecutive season, an Italian footballer has claimed the Premier League title. This article details the complete roster of Italian players and coaches who have earned English championship honors.

Following in the footsteps of Federico Chiesa, who secured the title with Liverpool in the 2024-25 season, Italy international Calafiori has made history with Arsenal, guiding the Gunners to their first Premier League triumph in 22 years.

A notable Italian winner from earlier seasons includes Mario Balotelli, who lifted the Premier League trophy with Manchester City in the 2011-12 campaign. During that season, he contributed 13 goals in 23 league appearances and provided the crucial assist for Sergio Aguero’s decisive late goal against QPR.

Italian Premier League Winners Without a Medal

Several other Italian players have been part of Premier League-winning squads but did not meet the minimum league appearance threshold to receive an official winner’s medal.

Federico Macheda was part of the Manchester United team that won the English title in the 2008-09 season, though he was only 16 at the time.

In the 2009-10 season, an 18-year-old Fabio Borini made four appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea. A few years prior, in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, Carlo Cudicini won titles as Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper under José Mourinho, accumulating just seven appearances across both campaigns.

Massimo Taibi, another reserve goalkeeper, made four appearances in the 1999-00 season. By the time Manchester United secured the title that year, Taibi had already returned to Reggina.

Italian Premier League Champion Coaches

Four Italian coaches have achieved the distinction of winning the Premier League. Antonio Conte led Chelsea to victory in the 2016-17 season, and Carlo Ancelotti secured the title with Chelsea in 2009-10. Claudio Ranieri guided Leicester City to their historic win in 2015-16, and Roberto Mancini was the mastermind behind Manchester City’s triumph in 2011-12.
