Former Manchester United and England midfielder, Jesse Lingard, is currently working to re-establish his career in South Korea. He joined FC Seoul in February 2024 as a free agent, having been without a club for several months following his departure from Nottingham Forest.
Lingard`s presence has helped boost the profile of the K-League. He has also taken on captaincy responsibilities at FC Seoul. The 32-year-old player is focused on setting an example through his performances on the pitch and making impactful contributions.
He recently got back on the scoresheet, netting the opening goal from the penalty spot in FC Seoul`s comprehensive 4-1 victory over Pohang Steelers. Lingard showed composure from 12 yards, successfully sending the opposing goalkeeper the wrong way.
As he celebrated his goal, Lingard performed a gesture that mirrored the famous `dunk` celebration by NBA legends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. He imitated throwing an imaginary ball over his shoulder for a teammate to catch and `dunk`, replicating their well-known move from their time playing together for the Miami Heat.
Lingard appears happy playing in South Korea and has expressed his ambition to follow in the footsteps of NBA champions James and Wade by achieving significant trophy success before concluding his football journey far from home.
