Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is thrilled to announce the addition of former UFC standout Joe Lauzon to the lineup for BKFC 92, a significant combat sports event scheduled for Saturday, August 29, at the iconic Fenway Park. Lauzon, a native of Bridgewater, MA, will enter the bare-knuckle arena for the first time in the welterweight division, with his opponent yet to be revealed.
With a distinguished 15-year career in the UFC, Joe Lauzon amassed an impressive 28-15 record. He was known for his thrilling performances and memorable bouts against notable fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Diego Sanchez, Al Iaquinta, Anthony Pettis, Kenny Florian, and Brandon Melendez. As a beloved Bostonian favorite, Lauzon frequently earned ‘Fight of the Night’ accolades.
“Joe Lauzon is a highly recognizable figure in the Boston sports scene, and we are incredibly excited for him to embark on his bare-knuckle journey at our Fenway Park event,” stated David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC.
Joe Lauzon expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m looking forward to this collaboration with BKFC. The chance to return to the spotlight, especially in my hometown of Boston, was an opportunity I couldn’t let pass.”
He further elaborated on his excitement for the venue: “What truly thrilled me was the prospect of fighting at Fenway Park. I’ve competed in Boston before, including at the TD Garden, but there’s a unique magic in fighting on the actual field at Fenway. I grew up as a Red Sox fan, played baseball as a child, and watched the Red Sox clinch the World Series during my college years. To have the opportunity to fight there is simply extraordinary.”
“Boston has consistently supported me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and supporters have filled the venue. I can’t wait to experience that again. Fenway Park stands as one of the most legendary venues, and the chance to fight there is an unforgettable moment.”
BKFC 92 will be a historic occasion, marking the first sanctioned bare-knuckle fighting event to be held in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The event will unfold directly on the Fenway Park field. The main event will feature BKFC Featherweight World Champion and pound-for-pound #3 fighter, Kai Stewart (9-0) from Great Falls, Montana, making his record sixth world title defense against the undefeated New England combat sports talent, Harry ‘The Hitman’ Gigliotti (6-0, 5 KOs) of Haverhill, MA.
Additional matchups for this world-class bare-knuckle fighting evening will be announced in the coming weeks.
