Art of War Cage Fighting (AOW) is set to host its inaugural event of the year, AOW 46: Turnbull vs. Yapsam, this Saturday, March 28th, at the intimate Valley Forge, PA Casino. Known for consistently delivering top-notch events, the promotion, led by Mike Bickings and his team, anticipates another successful year. The main event will see Turnbull defending his AOW featherweight championship against Canadian challenger Ryan Yapsam.
In the co-main event, defending bantamweight champion Juwan Gonzales (4-1) from Marquez MMA faces a significant challenge from Justin Cariss (3-1). Cariss, who began wrestling at age three, is coming off an impressive ankle lock submission win on February 28th. This highly anticipated bout is predicted to be the “fight of the night,” showcasing two athletes poised for promising careers. Cariss sharpens his skills under the guidance of veteran coaches Nick Cottone (American MMA and Wrestling) and Jeff Cressman from Power Half Wrestling Academy/Cressman MMA. Cressman, a former student of the legendary Daddis Fight Camp, is highly regarded for his striking coaching and leadership.
A featured middleweight clash pits the undefeated Justus “the Ruckus” Cheatom (2-0) against the more seasoned Nick Stephenson (2-1). Stephenson trains alongside the notable Daukaus brothers, Chris and Kyle, at The Forge MMA. At 22 years old, Cheatom has dedicated himself to the gym, embracing not only fighting but also extensive weightlifting, evident in his impressive physique. While physical prowess doesn’t always guarantee success in the cage, Cheatom has proven effective so far. Coach Cressman holds immense confidence in “the Ruckus'” future, believing his potential is boundless.
Doors for AOW 46 open at 6 PM, with the first fight bell ringing at 7 PM.
