Juventus Considers Tottenham’s Djed Spence for Summer Transfer

Sport news

Italian media sources indicate that Juventus is expressing interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence for a possible summer transfer. The Bianconeri are reportedly compiling a list of potential targets to strengthen their full-back positions.

Juventus Prioritizes Full-back Reinforcement

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, bolstering the full-back area is among Juventus’s top priorities for the upcoming off-season. Previous speculation has linked the Turin club with promising Italian talent Michael Kayode from Brentford, as well as Roma’s Zeki Celik, who could become available on a free transfer.

Monday’s reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport now highlight Tottenham’s right-back Djed Spence as the latest name on Juventus’s wishlist. Spence has a prior connection with Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini, stemming from their shared time at Genoa.

Ottolini was responsible for bringing Spence to Genoa on a loan deal with an option to buy, a move that occurred around the same time Radu Dragusin transferred to Tottenham during the January 2024 transfer window. The three-time England international subsequently made 16 Serie A appearances during the latter half of the 2023-24 campaign.

As it stands, no formal negotiations have commenced between the two clubs. However, Monday’s report suggests that Juventus would likely need to offer approximately €30 million to secure Spence’s services from Tottenham, a club that has recently been battling relegation.

This estimated transfer fee is comparable to the amount previously cited for the potential acquisition of Michael Kayode.

A €30 million investment for a full-back is considered substantial for Juventus. La Gazzetta dello Sport speculates that the Old Lady might need to sell some of their current players before they can finalize such a deal. Pierre Kalulu has been mentioned as one of the players who could potentially be offloaded this summer.
