Italian media outlet Tuttosport indicates that Juventus has initiated discussions with Real Madrid’s formidable defender, Antonio Rudiger. The German international is poised to become a free agent in June upon the expiration of his current contract, making him a highly sought-after prospect for top European clubs.
Juventus Opens Dialogue with Rudiger
The Serie A powerhouse, Juventus, is reportedly keen on acquiring Rudiger. According to Tuttosport, preliminary negotiations have already commenced with the German international, whose tenure with Real Madrid concludes this summer. This move highlights Juventus’s strategic approach to bolstering their defense with a top-tier player available without a transfer fee.
Bianconeri coach Luciano Spalletti reportedly holds the experienced centre-back in high regard. The two previously collaborated at Roma between 2015 and 2017, during which Rudiger made 54 appearances under Spalletti’s guidance at the Olimpico. This pre-existing professional relationship could play a significant role in Rudiger’s decision-making process.
The report further notes that both Liverpool and Manchester United have also inquired about Rudiger’s availability, adding competitive tension to the transfer race. However, Manchester United’s interest might wane if they successfully negotiate a contract extension for their current captain, Harry Maguire, potentially narrowing the field for Juventus.
Juventus is reportedly prepared to present Rudiger with a lucrative three-year deal, offering an annual salary in the range of €5 million to €6 million. This substantial offer underscores their determination to secure the defender’s services and integrate him into their squad for the upcoming seasons.

Despite recently reclaiming a starting position under manager Álvaro Arbeloa, Rudiger’s long-term future at the Bernabéu remains ambiguous. His contract situation and the intense interest from top European clubs create an intriguing scenario for the coming months.
Should Arbeloa remain at the helm of Real Madrid for the 2026-27 season, he is expected to advocate for a contract extension for the former Roma star. This potential intervention from the current manager could significantly impact whether Rudiger ultimately departs from the Spanish capital or commits his future to Real Madrid.
