Striker Lautaro Martinez made a spectacular return to action for Inter Milan, finding the back of the net with his very first touch since recovering from injury. This pivotal goal gave Inter a lightning-fast lead against AS Roma.
The Nerazzurri had keenly felt the absence of their captain, who had been sidelined since February 18 after suffering a calf injury during their Champions League play-off defeat to Bodo/Glimt.
Martinez needed just 60 seconds on the pitch at San Siro to make his presence decisively felt. He cleverly outmaneuvered his defender to connect with Marcus Thuram’s precise cross from the right wing, powerfully smashing the ball first-time into the roof of the net from close range.
This impressive strike marked his 15th goal in Serie A across 26 appearances this season, bringing his total to 19 goals in 36 competitive matches, alongside four assists.
