British Muay Thai fighter Liam Nolan is preparing for his return to competition in ONE Championship.
Nolan`s previous fight was a loss to Nauzet Trujillo last year. A rematch against Trujillo was planned, but the Spanish fighter had to withdraw unexpectedly on short notice.
As a result, Nolan will now step into the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok to face Abolfazl Alipour Andi in a Muay Thai contest early on Saturday morning.
Winning this upcoming fight could pave the way for Nolan to potentially face fellow British lightweight contender George Jarvis, who is also making a name for himself in the division.
Nolan previously demonstrated impressive speed and skill during a return bout against Ali Aliev in Bangkok.
While Nolan remains focused on his ultimate goal of becoming a world champion, he acknowledges that Jarvis appears closer to challenging the current ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion, Regian Eersel.
“I`m not far away,” Nolan commented. “I think George Jarvis now deserves to fight for the world title.”
“Maybe after this I`ll fight someone else as well and maybe I`ll fight the winner of George and Eersel.”
Nolan highlighted the natural rivalry between himself and Jarvis, being both British fighters in the same weight class. He believes a fight between them “would be a great fight.”
He suggested that Jarvis possesses the right Muay Thai style to potentially overcome Eersel, predicting it would be “a good fight.”
George `G-Unit` Jarvis earned his ONE Championship contract after delivering a third-round finish against Thailand`s Rungrawee `Legatron` Sitsongpeenong in their lightweight Muay Thai fight.
Despite his past defeat, Nolan`s drive to become world champion remains undiminished. He added that even during his time away from fighting, the “fire was never out. It was always there.”
