As one of the most prominent football clubs in England and Europe, Liverpool FC has been graced by many exceptional players over the years. These athletes have left an indelible mark on the club`s history, none more so than its prolific goal scorers.
The undisputed leader of Liverpool`s all-time scoring chart is Ian Rush. Over two stints with the club, he amassed an astonishing 346 goals in 660 appearances.
Rush`s most outstanding season was the 1983-84 campaign. He scored 47 goals in 65 matches, securing the Golden Boot in both the league and European Cup, contributing significantly to Liverpool winning the league and European Cup double that year.
In second place is Roger Hunt, notably the sole Liverpool player to feature in England`s starting lineup when they lifted the World Cup trophy in 1966.
Hunt registered 285 goals across 492 appearances for the Reds.
He played a crucial role in Liverpool`s return to the top flight. In the 1961-62 season, he scored 41 goals in 41 league appearances, propelling Liverpool to the Second Division title and automatic promotion. The season after establishing themselves in the First Division, Hunt`s scoring prowess guided Liverpool to a memorable league title in 1963-64, where he was again the top scorer with 31 goals in 41 league matches.
Completing the top three is Mohamed Salah, who recently surpassed Gordon Hodgson in the 2024-25 season.

Steven Gerrard, often considered Liverpool`s greatest player and one of his generation`s finest midfielders, made 710 appearances for the club over 17 years. He ranks sixth in the all-time goal scorers list with 186 goals, also holding the third-highest number of appearances in club history.
Other prominent figures like Robbie Fowler, Kenny Dalglish, and Michael Owen occupy the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots respectively, having scored 183, 172, and 158 goals during their distinguished Liverpool careers.
Harry Chambers rounds out the top 10, having scored 151 goals in 339 appearances.

Mohamed Salah is currently the only active player featured in the top 20. Following the recent departures of Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino, the “Egyptian King” climbed past the legendary Steven Gerrard in the 2023-24 season and further rose above Billy Liddell and Gordon Hodgson in the 2024-25 campaign to secure his place in third position.
