Molly McCann, a renowned former UFC fighter, is set to embark on her professional boxing journey later this year, having recently announced her retirement from mixed martial arts.
Her decision to retire from the UFC came in March, following a submission loss to Alexia Thainara, concluding a distinguished ten-year career in MMA.
The 35-year-old athlete, affectionately known as `Meatball` due to her past work in a sandwich shop, has not yet revealed who her inaugural boxing opponent will be.
McCann stated, “The timing felt right to transition from MMA; I made the choice to leave, confident that a boxing career awaited me.”
She emphasized her boxing background, explaining, “My boxing skills are established. I frequented boxing gyms throughout my youth, driven by my love for fighting and striking. I`m ready for anything; I`ll face any opponent, at any time or place.”

McCann concluded her MMA career with an impressive record of 14 victories and eight defeats. She has now officially partnered with Matchroom to pursue her boxing ambitions.
Promoter Eddie Hearn expressed his enthusiasm, remarking, “It`s high time she steps into the boxing ring. As a former ABA champion, her boxing prowess is well-known, and she`s built a global profile as a huge star in the UFC.”
Hearn added, “We`re thrilled to begin this journey and equally pleased she chose Matchroom. She`s set to fight globally, promising many significant events. Our goal is to ensure she remains consistently active.”
