Napoli’s medical updates present a contrasting picture: while Scott McTominay is set to rejoin training, Antonio Vergara’s injury appears to be more significant.
The Neapolitan club has been plagued by a persistent stream of injuries throughout the current season, with new setbacks often coinciding with players returning to action.
Squad Boost and New Setback
McTominay, who has been sidelined since February 7 after aggravating a tendon inflammation while scoring against Genoa, is expected to resume training with the squad tomorrow. This makes him a likely inclusion for Saturday’s Serie A fixture against Lecce.
Conversely, Antonio Vergara’s participation in upcoming matches seems doubtful. The young academy product left the field injured during the recent victory over Torino. Initial assessments suggest he is dealing with plantar fasciitis, a condition that could require a considerable recovery period.
Adding to their challenges, Napoli continues to miss David Neres, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Amir Rrahmani. However, there was positive news last week with Kevin De Bruyne and Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa successfully returning to play.
