Newcastle United has reportedly monitored Roma defender Jan Ziółkowski on multiple occasions this season. Polish media suggests the young player is evaluating all options for the summer, including a potential departure from the club.
The Premier League club, Newcastle United, has expressed interest in the Polish defender Ziółkowski, who is nearing the end of his debut Serie A season with Roma.
Ziółkowski, a Target for Newcastle, Weighs Roma Exit
Sport.pl, a Polish media outlet, reports that numerous clubs, including Newcastle and teams from Italy, France, and the Netherlands, have been scouting the 20-year-old this season.
However, Ziółkowski has seen limited playing time recently, with his last Serie A start coming on January 6 in a 2-0 victory against Lecce.
Since that match, the U21 Poland international has only featured in five Serie A games, all as a substitute, under the guidance of Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

During the March international break, Ziółkowski was not called up for Poland’s World Cup play-off matches against Albania and Sweden, as his national team ultimately failed to qualify.

“The national team is extremely important to Janek, as is playing for Roma,” a source close to the situation informed Sport.pl.
“He had hoped to contribute to the national team in the play-offs, but his lack of regular club appearances made that impossible. Consistent club play is vital in this regard.”
“We are evaluating all potential avenues that would ensure Janek gets more playing time, and that includes a departure from Roma.”
Ziółkowski’s current contract with Roma is set to expire in June 2030.
The Polish central defender has registered one goal in 19 appearances for Roma across all competitions this season.
