George `G-Unit` Jarvis faced a rapid defeat, being knocked out by Regian `The Immortal` Eersel in a mere 84 seconds during ONE Fight Night 34.
Jarvis had aspired to follow Jonathan Haggerty`s path and emerge as the UK`s next ONE world champion. The 25-year-old Londoner entered his Lightweight Muay Thai World Title main event against Eersel at Bangkok`s Lumpinee Stadium with considerable momentum.
However, he quickly discovered, much like many opponents before him, that Eersel operates on a different level.
The moment the bell rang, both fighters converged in the ring`s center. They exchanged low kicks, seeking to establish distance. Yet, only 30 seconds into the bout, `The Immortal` unleashed a jab-cross-left hook combination, forcing the challenger to retreat.
This marked a significant shift in the fight`s momentum.
Jarvis launched a powerful body kick, inadvertently lowering his guard. Eersel swiftly capitalized, blocking the strike and immediately counterattacking with his own body kick, impacting Jarvis`s arms with his lead foot. A flurry of punches and more low kicks ensued.
The decisive moment arrived when the Londoner again threw a body kick with his hands down. The Dutch-Surinamese champion, anticipating this, absorbed the blow and lunged forward with a cross to the chin, sending `G-Unit` crashing to the canvas.
Although Jarvis managed to quickly rise before referee Olivier Coste could complete the eight-count, his time on his feet was short-lived.
Eersel pressed his advantage with a teep kick that drove the Englishman towards the ropes, then barraged the challenger with a series of punches and a right elbow. Overwhelmed, Jarvis attempted to disengage, but another direct right hand landed precisely.
This impactful strike sent the British fighter to the mat, just as Eersel delivered a flying knee that would have undeniably sealed the victory if the preceding right hand hadn`t already.
This triumph elevates the 32-year-old champion`s record to an impressive 64-5 and secured him a US$50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
For Jarvis, this loss ends his four-fight winning streak and marks the first knockout defeat of his career. While one British fighter experienced a setback, another achieved success.
