UEFA has officially announced the referee assignments for the initial legs of the Europa League and Conference League quarter-finals. With only two Serie A clubs remaining in European competitions, the focus is on their upcoming fixtures.
Bologna is set to host Aston Villa at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Thursday in the Europa League. The match will be officiated by 37-year-old Swiss referee Sandro Schärer. Schärer previously oversaw Atalanta’s 4-0 defeat against PSG in a Champions League group stage match earlier in the season. His officiating team will include assistants Stéphane De Almeida and Jonas Erni, with Fedayi San serving as the VAR.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina will travel to London to face Crystal Palace in their Conference League quarter-final first leg. Lithuanian referee Donatas Rumšas has been appointed to manage this encounter, marking his first time officiating a Serie A club in the current season. He will be supported by assistants Aleksandr Radius and Dovydas Saziedelis, while Rob Dieperink will be the VAR official.
