Rodri’s Manchester City Future Uncertain as Real Madrid Move Looms

Sport news

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester City midfielder Rodri’s future at the club is in doubt, as he has yet to agree on a new contract. This comes amidst reports that the Spanish international is open to a potential transfer to Real Madrid at some point.

Speaking on Instagram, Romano highlighted the contract stalemate, fueling speculation about Rodri’s next career move. Rodri himself has publicly hinted at his willingness to consider a switch to the Bernabéu.

Rodri Open to Real Madrid Despite Atletico Past

The 29-year-old, considered one of the world’s best defensive midfielders, has one year remaining on his current deal with Manchester City. As quoted by Sky Sports, Rodri stated, “I have a year left on my contract. There will come a point when we’ll have to sit down and talk.”

He further added that he wouldn’t “turn down the best clubs in the world” and referenced other players who have made similar transitions between Madrid clubs (though not directly). Despite having previously played for Atletico Madrid, Rodri clarified that he would have no issues representing Real.

While expressing happiness in the Premier League, Rodri also conveyed a desire to return to La Liga: “I would like to return (to LaLiga) yes, of course. For me, LaLiga is where I started… But right now, I am very happy here.”

Real Madrid might be in the market for a new midfielder, especially with speculation that Eduardo Camavinga could depart this summer, potentially paving the way for a move for Rodri.
