The legendary Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record with his historic brace in an eventual 5-0 victory over Fabio Cannavaro’s Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday and Serie A has sent a message of congratulations to the former Juventus star.

The 41-year-old netted a brace against Uzbekistan in Houstoun in the second round of group stage fixtures on Tuesday, and in doing so, became the first player in history to score at six different World Cups and also overtook Eusebio to become Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer at the World Cup with 10 goals.
“We had with us for 98 matches THE FIRST PLAYER EVER TO SCORE AT 6 WORLD CUPS: Cristiano Ronaldo,” read a social media post from the Lega Serie A.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner spent three seasons with Juventus, during which time he scored 101 goals from 134 appearances across all competitions and 81 Serie A goals from 98 outings in the league.
Ronaldo will have an opportunity to improve on his World Cup record when Portugal take on Colombia at 00.30 BST in the early hours of Sunday morning.
