Serie A’s Thrilling Season: Inter’s Dominance & Como’s Rise

Sport news

Inter currently stands as the undisputed leader in Serie A, boasting the league’s most potent attack and frequently engaging in some of the season’s most spectacular matches. However, they are far from the only source of excitement in Italian football.

Despite a 1-1 home draw against Atalanta in Serie A Week 29, Inter managed to extend their lead over second-placed Milan, as the Rossoneri succumbed to a 1-0 away defeat against Lazio.

With an eight-point cushion over their city rivals, Cristian Chivu’s Nerazzurri are widely regarded as the top contenders to win the Scudetto this term.

Inter has demonstrated unparalleled consistency in Italy’s top flight this season, securing 22 victories out of 29 games. Their recent draw against Atalanta was only their second stalemate of the campaign, and they have recorded just five league losses so far.

While Como and Milan may have stronger defensive records, Inter’s offensive prowess is unmatched in Italy, having netted 65 goals in 29 matches, averaging an impressive 2.24 goals per game.

Statistical analysis highlights the Nerazzurri’s involvement in several of the highest-scoring Serie A matches during the 2025-26 campaign.

To date, their dominant 6-2 victory over Pisa in Week 22 holds the record for the most goals scored in a single Serie A match this season.

This is closely followed by another Inter fixture: their thrilling 4-3 loss against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin in September 2025.

Moreover, Inter is the only Serie A club this season to achieve a commanding 5-0 away win, a feat accomplished in February when Chivu’s squad comprehensively defeated Sassuolo.

Nevertheless, when the discussion turns to truly entertaining matches, it’s impossible to overlook Como.

The team, under the guidance of coach Cesc Fabregas, recently secured a 2-1 home victory against Roma, propelling them into the top four of the league standings.

Reflecting on the triumph, Fabregas remarked, “When you build a squad, you establish an idea, you meticulously study your players – their character, their identity. Learning to manage the result and the game effectively is a matter of solidity, courage, and trust. This takes months, not weeks, to develop. Games like this demonstrate that these qualities are becoming intrinsic, not forced.”

Como delivered one of the campaign’s most emphatic wins on January 24, when they thrashed Torino 6-0 at home. The reverse fixture proved equally successful for the Azzurri, who had already defeated the Granata 5-1 away in late November.

With 50 goals conceded in 29 rounds, Torino possesses one of the league’s most porous defenses. Their season began with a crushing 5-0 defeat against Inter at San Siro, a scoreline that Juventus mirrored in January when they beat struggling Cremonese.

The Old Lady also celebrated another significant victory on February 1, securing a 4-1 away triumph against Parma.
