Igli Tare describes his decision to join AC Milan as Sporting Director as “one of the best days of my life,” and emphasizes his straightforward relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The former Albanian striker, who spent a significant portion of his Serie A career with Lazio as both a player and a director, has taken on a new role at Milan this season.
In an upcoming interview with DAZN Italia, snippets of which have been released, Tare expressed his deep satisfaction with his move.
Tare Dedicated to the Milan Project
“The moment I finalized the agreement with Milan was one of the happiest days of my life,” Tare stated.
He also addressed the widely reported, at times intense, dynamic with club special advisor Ibrahimovic.
“We both hail from the Balkans, so we tend to be very direct with each other.”
Under Max Allegri, the team appears to be on a promising path towards Champions League qualification, marking a substantial turnaround from failing to secure any European competition last season.
“To truly be worthy of Milan, we must return to winning. You need to make your mark here,” Tare cautioned.
The director also expressed confidence in Rafael Leao’s ability to fully realize his potential, despite periods of inconsistency.
“He possesses incredible potential. As Luka Modric once said, even Leao himself may not fully grasp the extent of what he can achieve.”
