Two Men Convicted in Suman Mokhtarian Assassination Plot

MMA news

In a recent legal development, two men, Noah Touma and Usman Chami, have been found guilty of their involvement in a foiled assassination attempt targeting former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian. The incident occurred in February 2024, a year prior to Mokhtarian’s tragic death in February 2025 in Riverstone, New South Wales, a murder for which no arrests have yet been made.

The verdict was delivered by the Parramatta District Court. Touma and Chami were initially apprehended and charged with attempted murder but were subsequently released on bail due to insufficient evidence. Despite their not-guilty pleas, a jury of 12 ultimately convicted them of conspiring to murder the late mixed martial artist.

Crucially, law enforcement officials have stated that, as of now, there is no known connection between the men convicted for the attempted assassination and the 2025 shooting that claimed Mokhtarian’s life.

Suman Mokhtarian held a professional MMA record of 8 wins and 2 losses. He departed the UFC in 2019 after experiencing two consecutive defeats and participating in an exhibition fight during The Ultimate Fighter Season 27. Both Suman and his brother, Ashkan Mokhtarian, who also competed in the UFC, were reportedly linked to the Alameddine crime network, an organized criminal organization active in Australia.
