The managerial landscape is shifting significantly as reports suggest AC Milan coach Max Allegri is a leading candidate for the Napoli job, should Antonio Conte depart. This potential move is complicated by Maurizio Sarri’s reported interest in a project with Atalanta.
With the summer transfer window approaching, a considerable number of coaching positions are expected to change hands across various clubs, promising a dynamic period of activity in the dugout.
Conte has given indications of his potential departure from Napoli, creating an opening that Maurizio Sarri, currently at Lazio, is heavily favored to fill. However, Sarri is reportedly weighing his options, considering a return to a club where he previously achieved success, while also evaluating a proposal from Atalanta for a different strategic direction.
Consequently, Napoli is exploring alternative candidates. According to transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà of Sportitalia, Allegri had previously reached an agreement with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis last summer. This agreement was ultimately not enacted when intensive negotiations led to Conte extending his stay.
Given this history, De Laurentiis is likely to turn to Allegri again for the managerial role at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, particularly as tensions appear to be rising behind the scenes at Milan.
Should Allegri leave AC Milan, the club would then reportedly consider current Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano as a replacement.
