Allegri Eyes Rabiot Reunion at Napoli Amidst Coaching Shift

Sport news

Recent Italian media reports indicate that Massimiliano Allegri, slated to take over as Napoli’s head coach, is keen on securing the services of midfielder Adrien Rabiot from AC Milan. Rabiot, a player Allegri has previously managed, is being considered as a potential key signing to strengthen Napoli’s midfield.

Allegri is expected to assume the managerial role at Napoli on a two-year contract starting with the 2026-27 season, marking his return to coaching after his dismissal from AC Milan at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. While Allegri’s historically defensive tactical approach has raised some eyebrows, given Napoli’s attacking philosophy, his decorated coaching career has earned the approval of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Speculation surrounding potential player movements has already begun. According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Napoli may part ways with midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. Should Anguissa depart, the club is expected to seek a replacement. Allegri is reportedly planning to implement a 4-3-3 formation at the Stadio Maradona.

In the event of Anguissa’s exit, there is a possibility that Napoli might pursue Rabiot, with whom Allegri has a history at both AC Milan and Juventus. The proposed midfield setup could see Rabiot and Scott McTominay operating as box-to-box midfielders, potentially with a more defensive player like Stanislav Lobotka providing cover.

Adrien Rabiot is currently under contract with AC Milan until the summer of 2028 and reportedly earns €5.5 million per season.
