Antonio Conte Expected to Depart Napoli, Eyes Italy Coaching Role

Sport news

Italian media outlets report that Antonio Conte is likely to conclude his tenure at Napoli by mutual agreement, with a significant chance of him becoming the next coach of the Italian national team.

Sources from Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport indicate that Napoli and Conte are on the verge of parting ways at the season’s end.

The Pink Paper suggests that Conte and Napoli’s President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, reached a decision to separate during a meeting held in mid-April.

Conte’s Ambition for the Italy Coaching Position

Following Napoli’s victory over Pisa on Sunday, Conte alluded to his potential departure from the Partenopei, though the club has yet to officially confirm this.

According to Gazzetta, Conte is keen to assume the role of Italy coach following the FIGC Presidential election scheduled for June 22.

Conte has one year remaining on his contract at the Stadio Maradona. While Corriere dello Sport remains more reserved regarding Conte’s exit, it is understood that if the Italian tactician does leave, it will be through mutual consent and without any severance pay.

Gazzetta identifies Maurizio Sarri as the primary contender to succeed Conte at the Stadio Maradona, with Massimiliano Allegri of Milan also considered a strong candidate.

Sarri has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction at Lazio, stating he would depart the club if his strategic plans do not align with the Biancocelesti’s objectives.

Meanwhile, Allegri has experienced friction with Milan’s Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic and is not on good terms with CEO Giorgio Furlani. Consequently, the Livorno-born coach is expected to leave the Rossoneri unless there is a change in the club’s management next season.
