Hakan Calhanoglu faces uncertainty for the Coppa Italia Final against Lazio on May 13 following a fresh muscle injury, according to Italian media reports. The Inter Milan star has been confirmed to have suffered a new setback.
Inter officially announced on Monday that the Turkish midfielder had sustained a new injury. “Hakan Çalhanoğlu underwent medical examinations this morning at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano,” a club statement read. “The tests revealed a muscular strain in the soleus of his left leg. His condition will be assessed in the coming days.”
Italian news outlets, including Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta, suggest that Calhanoglu’s latest injury could potentially sideline him from the upcoming Coppa Italia Final, which is scheduled to take place in approximately two weeks.
Calhanoglu has been hampered by injuries throughout the second half of the season, impacting his availability. Despite these issues, he has contributed significantly, recording 12 goals and seven assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this term. He has missed a total of 13 matches due to injuries this season.
On Sunday, Calhanoglu was an unused substitute in Inter’s 2-2 draw with Torino. Inter coach Cristian Chivu had previously indicated that Calhanoglu was not fully fit, but the latest medical assessments have revealed a more concerning situation regarding his left leg.
