Inter Milan were forced to postpone their Serie A title celebrations after a surprising 2-2 draw against Torino. Despite holding a 2-0 lead, Inter conceded twice in the second half, allowing Torino to secure a point.
Coming off a strong week that saw them extend their lead at the top of Serie A and reach the Coppa Italia final, Inter made several changes to their lineup, resting key players like Alessandro Bastoni, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Denzel Dumfries. Torino, meanwhile, saw the return of Duvan Zapata and Ardian Ismajli to their squad.
The match began with a protest from Torino ultras, who marched towards the stadium but remained outside in demonstration against the club’s management.
Inter opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Marcus Thuram, who headed home a precise cross from Federico Dimarco. This assist marked Dimarco’s 17th of the Serie A season, potentially setting a new record. Inter doubled their lead in the 61st minute when Yann Bisseck scored with a header from another Dimarco assist.
However, Torino fought back. Giovanni Simeone pulled one back in the 70th minute with a skillful back-heel and finish. The equalizer came in the 79th minute from the penalty spot, converted by Nikola Vlasic after a VAR review determined that a Duvan Zapata shot had hit Carlos Augusto’s hand in the box.
The match remained open until the end, with both teams seeking a winner. Inter’s lead at the top of Serie A is now 10 points with only four games remaining.
