Cristiano Giuntoli Set for Atalanta Role, Replacing D’Amico Amidst Milan and Roma Links

According to Matteo Moretto, former Juventus and Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has already finalized an agreement with Atalanta for the upcoming season.

Giuntoli, who previously served as CEO at Juventus, is poised to take on the role of Atalanta’s new sporting director.

While several reports indicated Giuntoli as the frontrunner to succeed Tony D’Amico in the 2026-27 season, Moretto suggests that the deal between Giuntoli and La Dea is already complete.

The Italian transfer expert reports that all terms have been settled by both parties, and an official announcement is expected in the coming days.

Giuntoli’s appointment signifies the departure of Atalanta’s current sporting director, Tony D’Amico, after four years with the club.

D’Amico has garnered interest from both Milan and Roma.

Last summer, Milan showed interest in the 46-year-old but ultimately appointed Igli Tare.

Recent speculation suggests that D’Amico remains a candidate for Milan, especially with uncertainty surrounding Tare’s position at San Siro.

Roma is also considered a potential destination. This is partly due to Gian Piero Gasperini’s increased influence following Claudio Ranieri’s departure, which is also expected to lead to Frederic Massara’s exit.
