Udinese has issued a strong statement denouncing “shameful racist insults” allegedly made by a Cagliari player towards Keinan Davis during their recent Serie A encounter. Nicolò Zaniolo also publicly voiced his outrage over the incident.
The match concluded with heightened tension in the final moments at the Unipol Domus stadium in Sardinia. Udinese’s official communication appears to aim at clarifying the events that unfolded concerning two separate incidents.
Udinese Accuses Cagliari Player of Racist Behavior
“Udinese Calcio expresses its deepest solidarity and unwavering support for Keinan Davis, who was subjected to disgraceful racist insults by an opposing player in today’s match,” stated the club in their official note. “The Club reiterates its firm condemnation of such deplorable actions that severely tarnish the image and fundamental values of the sport we cherish. Udinese Calcio will stand by Keinan in every possible way and trusts in the prompt resolution of this matter by the sporting justice system, in which we have complete confidence.”
While the player in question has not been officially named, evidence strongly suggests it was Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena. Cagliari coach Fabio Pisacane confirmed he had questioned Dossena about the allegations and received assurances that the player would “never do such a thing.”
Udinese player Zaniolo also took to social media to express his anger, refraining from naming the alleged perpetrator. He wrote on Instagram Stories, “The colleague (if you can even call him that) who today dared to insult my children and my teammate solely based on the color of his skin should be ashamed of himself and never set foot on a football pitch again.”
