Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Massimiliano Allegri’s relationship has reportedly reached a breaking point, with the two not having spoken for some time amidst ongoing internal tensions at AC Milan. Journalist Monica Colombo detailed this situation, suggesting that the club is divided into factions, with results previously masking underlying issues.
“Everything happening around Milan is rather turbulent,” Colombo stated, elaborating on her findings in an interview with the Milan Vibes YouTube channel, as reported by MilanNews.it. “The squad environment has inevitably been shaken by the various internal tensions. What is happening is that Milan is splitting into currents, while results were useful, the dust had been swept under the carpet, but old tensions resurfaced at the first opportunity.”
Ibrahimovic absent from Milan for three months amid Allegri standoff
The repercussions of this dispute are considerable. Colombo reports that Ibrahimovic has been absent from the dressing rooms at San Siro and Milanello for approximately three months, and no direct meeting has occurred between him and Allegri to resolve the conflict. “In this moment the two are not speaking and continuing this way is not possible,” she commented.
While a disagreement over the selection of the third goalkeeper for the upcoming season is cited as the immediate cause, Colombo emphasized that this was merely a pretext.
More significantly, Allegri is said to have been displeased upon discovering that Ibrahimovic had been in contact with players Rafael Leão and Youssouf Fofana. Reports indicate that Ibrahimovic provided them with tactical advice that ran counter to the coach’s directives during training sessions. The news of Ibrahimovic’s communications with Antonio Cassano is also believed to have further exacerbated the tense atmosphere.
