Despite Atalanta’s desire to spark a bidding war and achieve a €50 million valuation, Inter Milan appears optimistic that Marco Palestra’s inclination towards them will secure his transfer for a lower fee of €45 million.
Palestra has experienced a breakout season on loan at Cagliari, earning his debut caps for the senior Italy squad and attracting significant interest from various European clubs.
Atalanta is therefore prepared to sanction a sale this summer, aiming for at least €50 million, anticipating a competitive auction among prominent Premier League clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Liverpool, among others.
Palestra’s Potential to Attract High Offers
However, Inter has been monitoring the Italian talent for an extended period and believes they can persuade him to forgo other opportunities, granting them a preferential position in negotiations.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter is confident that a deal can be finalized for €45 million, even after their initial €40 million bid plus add-ons was rejected.
Reports suggest that Palestra would prefer to remain in Serie A at this stage of his career and views Inter as the ideal club to advance his development, with the prospect of regular playing time.
The potential presence of Federico Dimarco at Inter further aids their cause, as Palestra and Dimarco are likely to form the future wing-back pairing for the Italian national team.
Palestra is being considered as a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who is reported to have undergone a medical with Real Madrid today to finalize his €20 million release clause transfer.
