Inter Milan Finalizes Akanji Transfer, Initiates Talks for Solet

Sport news

Inter Milan is reportedly on the verge of securing Manuel Akanji’s permanent transfer from Manchester City for a fee of €15 million. Simultaneously, the club has commenced preliminary negotiations with Udinese for the acquisition of defender Oumar Solet.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter is prepared to finalize the €15 million deal for the Swiss defender Akanji, who joined the Nerazzurri on loan with an option to buy last summer. The agreement is expected to be formalized in May.

This move comes as Inter anticipates a significant defensive reshuffling for the 2026-27 season, with the contracts of Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, and Matteo Darmian set to expire in June. Gazzetta reports that while veteran De Vrij might be offered an extension, Acerbi and Darmian are expected to depart at the end of the current season.

In addition to Akanji, Inter, who are currently leading Serie A, have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Sassuolo’s young center-back Tarik Muharemovic. However, Muharemovic is not the only potential defensive reinforcement being considered.

Gazzetta further indicates that Inter has initiated preliminary talks with Udinese regarding their 26-year-old center-back, Oumar Solet. Udinese is reportedly willing to sanction Solet’s departure for a transfer fee ranging between €20 million and €25 million.
