Inter is reportedly close to finalizing the transfer of Marco Palestra from Atalanta. The agent for the 21-year-old talent, Alessandro Lucci, has arrived in Milan to conclude the final arrangements for a deal anticipated to be officially announced within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Sources indicate that the overall transfer package is expected to reach approximately €50 million, including performance-based bonuses. Discussions regarding an additional sell-on percentage are also ongoing and are expected to be a key topic in today’s meetings.
Inter had previously reached an agreement on personal terms with Palestra, offering him a five-year contract with an annual salary of around €3 million net. The player’s clear preference for Inter over potential offers from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City was a significant factor in Inter maintaining their leading position throughout the negotiations.
Palestra’s Role at Inter Confirmed as Deal Expected by Wednesday
Atalanta’s insistence on including a sell-on clause in the agreement could potentially increase the total value of the transfer beyond the €50 million mark. A general understanding between all parties has been in place for some time, with the remaining details focusing on minor financial points rather than any significant disagreements regarding the transfer itself.
Palestra is joining Inter after an impressive loan spell at Cagliari last season, where he solidified his place in the squad and earned his first call-ups to the senior Italian national team. He is expected to directly fill the right-back position that will be vacated by Denzel Dumfries, who is on the verge of a move to Real Madrid.
