Juan Jesus Apologizes to Napoli Fans for Subpar Performance

Sport news

Napoli defender Juan Jesus has issued a formal apology to the club’s supporters and his teammates, acknowledging that his performance in the recent match against Parma was “below my standards.”

The disappointing 1-1 draw with Parma has significantly diminished Napoli’s chances of winning the Scudetto. This result, coupled with Inter’s victory, has widened the gap at the top of the Serie A table to nine points.

Juan Jesus had a particularly difficult game at the Stadio Tardini. He made a costly error early on, leading to the opening goal within the first 33 seconds. Coach Antonio Conte substituted him at halftime.

Following this setback, the Brazilian defender took to social media to address the Napoli faithful.

“This is football; we make mistakes and must have the courage to persevere,” Juan Jesus stated. “Yesterday, I did not perform up to my usual level, and I accept full responsibility for that. However, I also recognize that, overall, this has been one of the most successful seasons of my career. It’s precisely for this reason that I expect more from myself.

Errors are painful, but they are an integral part of the journey. We work, we learn, and we come back stronger. Our focus always remains on the objective. Forza Napoli, always.”

The central defender is approaching his 35th birthday in June and is in the final weeks of his contract with Napoli. He joined the club as a free agent from Roma in 2021, having been a part of Italian football since January 2012, playing for Inter, Roma, and currently Napoli.
