Milan Back in Contact with Jaissle Despite Rangnick’s Stance on Director Position

Sport news

Italian reports indicate that AC Milan has re-established communication with Al-Ahli’s head coach, Matthias Jaissle. This development occurs even as Ralf Rangnick seems inclined to decline the offer to become the Rossoneri’s new technical director.

Milan Pursues Jaissle Again

Following the departures of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani shortly after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, AC Milan is still without a senior management team. Over the past two weeks, reports had suggested the potential appointment of Ralf Rangnick as the new technical director at San Siro. However, this plan encountered a significant obstacle on Friday, as the German is reportedly growing weary of Milan’s delay in making a final decision and now appears more inclined to remain in his current capacity as the head coach of the Austrian national team.

It is understood that Rangnick desired confirmation from Milan before the commencement of the World Cup, which began on Thursday night, but this confirmation has not yet been received. This situation could also complicate Milan’s search for a new head coach. Oliver Glasner, who has also been strongly linked with a move to San Siro, is a long-term protégé of Rangnick, and it remains to be seen if the former Crystal Palace coach will still be willing to join under these new circumstances.

However, according to updates from Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, the Rossoneri have re-initiated contact with Al-Ahli’s head coach, Jaissle. Reports from May indicated that Jaissle was originally recommended for the role by Rangnick.

Concerns had previously arisen regarding the potential cost of the 38-year-old Asian Champions League winner for Milan, as Al-Ahli was reportedly seeking approximately €6 million in compensation to release their head coach. Nevertheless, updates from Friday suggest that Milan has since held another in-person meeting with Jaissle in an effort to reach a potential agreement for him to become Milan’s new leader.

At this stage, no definitive decisions have been made regarding Glasner, and several other names have also been associated with the Rossoneri’s managerial vacancy, including Ruben Amorim, Arne Slot, and Mauricio Pochettino.
