According to Portuguese media, Morten Hjulmand, a player reportedly of interest to Milan, has already bid farewell to his colleagues at Sporting CP. He is hoping for his transfer to be finalized before the start of pre-season. However, there are conflicting reports regarding the potential transfer fee between Milan and Sporting.
Hjulmand is Milan’s Target and Expects to Leave Sporting CP
Recent reports indicate that Sporting midfielder Hjulmand is one of Ruben Amorim’s primary transfer targets in his new role as head coach of Milan. The Danish international is already familiar with Italian football, having previously played under Amorim’s tactical system at Lecce.
Hjulmand’s contract with Sporting includes a release clause reportedly set at €80 million. However, recent news suggests that the Portuguese club is open to accepting significantly lower offers for the 26-year-old this summer.
The Portuguese outlet Record claims that Hjulmand is so eager for a move to Milan that he has already said his goodbyes to his teammates and the coaching staff at Sporting. He is reportedly seeking a new experience abroad and wishes to have his next move arranged before pre-season begins.
Hjulmand was close to departing Sporting last summer, and recent reports suggest there was a “gentleman’s agreement” in place to allow the player to leave for a reasonable fee in the summer of 2026.
While a transfer fee in the region of €45 million was previously discussed, reports from Calciomercato.com suggest that Milan could potentially secure a deal with Sporting for a fee between €35 million and €40 million.
