Nico Paz Transfer Saga: Como to Madrid, Inter Weigh Sales

Sport news

Reports indicate that representatives from Como are set to travel to Madrid to continue discussions regarding Nico Paz. Simultaneously, Inter Milan is reportedly exploring player sales to generate funds for an initial offer for the Argentine international.

Como’s Hope for Paz, Inter’s Sales Strategy

Nico Paz is currently at the center of a complex transfer situation involving Como, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid. While Como currently holds the player’s contract, Real Madrid possesses a low-cost buy-back option, and Inter is reportedly keen to secure his services. Paz has spent the last two seasons on loan at Como, acquired through a deal that included a 50% sell-on clause and favorable buy-back options for Real Madrid, who could reacquire him for approximately €9 million this summer.

The player’s future beyond the 2026-27 season remains uncertain. Como has expressed a strong desire to retain the 21-year-old for their upcoming Champions League campaign, and there are suggestions that Paz himself is open to continuing his development under manager Cesc Fàbregas. However, Inter Milan is also actively pursuing a move for Paz this summer. Such a transfer would likely necessitate Real Madrid activating their buy-back option before Inter could submit a bid estimated at around €60 million to bring him to the San Siro.

Given Como’s financial constraints, it is improbable they could match a €60 million valuation should Real Madrid exercise their buy-back clause. Their primary hope lies in convincing Real Madrid to defer exercising this option for at least another season. According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Como’s sporting director, Carlalberto Ludi, is scheduled to travel to Madrid in the coming days to attempt to persuade the Spanish club to allow Paz to remain at Como for an additional year.

In parallel, Inter Milan will need to offload players to finance a potential €60 million offer for Paz. Corriere dello Sport further reports that Inter’s ownership has allocated €50 million for the acquisition of Marco Palestra from Atalanta, with any additional funds required for Paz needing to be raised through player sales. Among the players who could be sold to fund this transfer are Alexander Stankovic, valued at approximately €40 million, Davide Frattesi, Luis Henrique, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Andy Diouf. Inter is also expected to part ways with several players returning from loan spells in the 2025-26 season, including Benjamin Pavard, Kristjan Asllani, and Ebimbe Akinsanmiro.
