Juventus is at risk of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 15 years, a scenario that could lead to a substantial management overhaul. Coach Luciano Spalletti is scheduled to meet with club owner John Elkann to discuss the team’s future.
Following a 2-0 defeat against Fiorentina on Sunday, Juventus has dropped to sixth place in the league standings, trailing a Champions League spot by two points with only one match remaining.
Possible Juventus Overhaul in 2026-27
Failure to qualify for the Champions League would have severe financial repercussions for the Serie A club, potentially costing them at least €80 million in revenue from the prestigious competition, as reported by Gazzetta.
Luciano Spalletti confirmed in a post-match press conference that he will meet with owner John Elkann in the coming days to evaluate the future. Spalletti recently signed a contract extension that runs until 2028.
While Spalletti’s position is technically secure, the Italian tactician acknowledged the need for self-reflection following the loss to Fiorentina.
According to Gazzetta, the lack of Champions League qualification might necessitate a new management restructuring, with CEO Damien Comolli reportedly under scrutiny. Comolli joined Juventus last summer, succeeding Cristiano Giuntoli after a two-season tenure.
Many of Comolli’s signings from the 2025-26 season have not met expectations, including Jonathan David and Lois Openda. However, Juventus has experienced frequent changes in its leadership over the past few years, none of which have resulted in tangible on-field improvements; in fact, the opposite has often been true.
Consequently, Elkann faces a critical decision-making process after his meeting with Spalletti.
Any decisions regarding the club’s future are expected to be made after the season concludes next weekend. Gazzetta reports that only Giorgio Chiellini, the Director of Football Strategy at Juventus, is certain of retaining his position at the club.
