Simone Inzaghi has definitively addressed rumors about a potential return to Italian football, asserting his continued dedication to Al-Hilal. This comes despite the Saudi club’s recent elimination from the Asian Champions League on penalties against Roberto Mancini’s Al-Sadd.
The former Inter Milan manager, whose name had been circulating in connection with the vacant Italy national team position and various Serie A coaching roles following recent events, was clear about his future plans when questioned.
“I am staying at Al-Hilal because I am performing my duties to the best of my capabilities and I am dedicating my all to this club,” Inzaghi stated, as reported by FCInter1908.
The penalty shootout loss to Al-Sadd is undoubtedly a painful outcome, especially considering the circumstances of the match.
Inzaghi’s View on Al-Hilal’s Champions League Exit
Inzaghi believed his team was the superior side during the game, taking the lead three separate times. However, Al-Sadd managed to equalize on each occasion, ultimately leading to the penalty shootout defeat.
“My objective was to advance to the quarter-finals, but luck was not on our side,” he commented. “We exerted maximum effort and created numerous scoring opportunities. Al-Sadd defended resolutely and scored three goals, but Al-Hilal was the stronger team and led the scoreline three times.”
This result is unlikely to alleviate the considerable pressure Inzaghi faces at a club where expectations are exceptionally high. Nevertheless, his public declaration of commitment to the current project indicates that he does not intend to use this setback as a reason to seek an immediate departure, at least for the time being.
