Torino Pursues Paraguay’s World Cup Goalkeeping Sensation Orlando Gill

Sport news

Italian Serie A club Torino has expressed significant interest in acquiring Paraguay’s goalkeeper, Orlando Gill, after his standout performances in the recent World Cup, particularly in their victory over Germany. Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Gill’s displays on the global stage have convinced the Turin-based club to make a formal offer this summer.

However, securing Gill’s signature will not be a straightforward endeavor. His impressive performances in the World Cup have undoubtedly inflated his market value. Any potential transfer is now estimated to cost at least €5-6 million, but Torino views him as a worthwhile investment for their squad.

Gill, who recently celebrated his 26th birthday, has also attracted attention from other European clubs, including Besiktas and Valencia. His current contract with Argentine club San Lorenzo extends until December 2027; he joined them from their Paraguayan affiliate in 2024.

The talented shot-stopper has earned 10 senior caps for Paraguay since making his debut in September 2025. He has been a crucial presence for his national team during the World Cup campaign. Following an initial 4-1 loss to the USA, Gill kept clean sheets against Turkiye and Australia. His most notable contribution was being the hero of their penalty shootout triumph against Germany in the Round of 32.
