AC Milan’s entire squad is set to undergo a training retreat beginning on Wednesday, as they gear up for a pivotal away match against Genoa on Sunday.
The decision follows hints from Sporting Director Igli Tare, who suggested a team camp could be imposed after the team’s 3-2 home defeat to Atalanta, aiming to refocus the players.
The club is currently in a precarious position regarding Champions League qualification. They have slipped from second to fourth place in the league standings, now level on points with Roma, having secured only seven points from their last eight matches.
According to reports from MilanNews and Sky Sport Italia, the club has confirmed the decision to place the players in a training camp starting Wednesday.
This move comes after the Serie A Week 37 schedule was finalized, with Milan’s encounter with Genoa scheduled to kick off at 11:30 AM UK time (12:30 PM CEST) on Sunday.
During such training retreats, players are housed at the club’s training facilities, restricting their ability to return home and see their families. While often implemented as a disciplinary measure for subpar performances, their stated purpose is to foster complete player focus on their duties and cultivate team unity.
